Sundays are probably my favorite day of the week. I grew up in a Christian home so Sunday means church which as a kid meant I got donuts and a coloring page! Awesome, right? Five years ago when I was diagnosed with gastroparesis there were […]
My name is Abbey and this is just me in a nice little wrapped up pretty present.
Oh, where to even begin? My life got turned upside down about 5 years ago. Before that topsy turvy craziness I was this spunky dancer who loved without abandon. I was a socialite. Let’s just say things are a bit different now. September 9th, 2012 I was diagnosed with this disease. Gastroparesis sounds like a complicated word. The word itself isn’t nearly as complicated as the disease.
Gastro- = stomach and -paresis =paralyzed. Basically it takes forever for my stomach to empty and proceed through the rest of my digestive tract. This results in chronic nausea, bloating, vomiting, malnutrition and much more. I have to be super careful about what I eat and sometimes that isn’t good enough. Sometimes the belly beast decides that the food I had yesterday is not so yummy to the tummy today so I shouldn’t even bother. Sounds awful, right?! Well that’s because it is. But this is my beautifully messed up and chaotic life. I almost said goodbye to this world at the age of 19 (and not by choice. I was literally starving to death). Since then, I have tried to get my life back to being, well… my life.
Come take a look around!
